Important Information About All Classes
We have tried to include complete supply lists below the class description. Each description will refer to the instructor’s website, if available.
The past few years we have experienced damage caused by the careless use of irons in class. We therefore will ban the use of the sealing and hobby irons. Please do not bring an iron to class, except when noted in supply list. We suggest a “wooden iron” as an alternative method of pressing pieced seams.
If a class includes a kit fee, the money is payable to the instructor on the day of the class.
Basic Sewing Supplies (BSS): fabric scissors, paper scissors, straight pins, pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, notepad, 12” ruler – not rotary, seam ripper, plastic bags to store strips, templates, etc., thread to match project, needles, washout marker, glue stick, small paper bag for trash, small calculator.
Rotary Cutter, Ruler and Mat (RCRM): rotary cutter, 6” x 24” acrylic ruler with 45° line, rotary mat, and extra blade for rotary cutter.
RCRLM: Same as RCRM, LM is mat large enough to cut 22” fabric length.
Sewing Machine (SM): sewing machine in good working order, several bobbins wound with appropriate thread, extra machine needles, manual for machine, 1/4” foot is strongly recommended for piecing.
Optional for All Classes: light, camera.
All classes will be subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met by December 1, 2008. Please do not purchase your supplies prior to that date. You will be notified if your class has been cancelled.
Class Times: Classes are held daily from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Lunch Break is from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Half Day Classes:
Morning Classes are from 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Afternoon Classes are from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Evening Classes are from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Definition of Skill Levels
All Levels - Assumes knowledge of basic sewing skills, basic rotary cutting skills and basic quilting skills, either appliqué or piecing.
Beginning level - Basic sewing skills with some rotary cutting skills. A working knowledge of sewing machine.
Intermediate level - Assumes not only knowledge of the basics, but also experience using them.
Sewing Machine Rental Policy
Baby Lock, Bernina, Janome and Pfaff will have machines for rent if you choose to leave your machine at home. The fee for rental will be $20 per day payable to the company on the day of rental. Special arrangements must be made with the company if you need the machine for an evening class. Sewing machines will NOT be available for rent for the mystery classes held on Friday and Saturday evenings at the Doubletree Hotel.
Registration and Supply Lists
All Conference and Showcase registrations must be made by mail, fax or online only
-no phone registrations. Registration requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and must be accompanied by a full payment. Please calculate your total carefully!
Supply Lists are included in this brochure or online with the class descriptions. We reserve the right to cancel a class with insufficient enrollment as of December 1, 2007. We will notify anyone who has registered for a class that is cancelled. Please do not purchase supplies until after December 1, 2007.
Payments
Payments may be made with MasterCard, Visa, check or money order payable to Road to California. All payments must be made in US dollars. A $25 charge will apply to all checks returned by the bank.
