1001 – Beginning Longarm Quilting $100

Skill Level: Beginner
Learn the basics of longarm quilting using pantographs to create pleasing overall designs in this 4-hour hands-on class. We will cover proper loading of a quilt; discuss threads and tension, batting, needles and other important tips to help you get comfortable using your machine. You will also be introduced to the freehand side of machine by stitching marked stencil designs. Longarm Machines for this class provided by APQS.

Supply List: Please bring small thread scissors and fabric marking pen or pencil.

 
   

1002 – Fabulous Block to Block Custom Quilting $100

This class is guaranteed to change the way you approach your next quilt. Pam Clarke, a Longarm Quilter since 1988 has finished over 7,500 quilts. Learn her secrets to custom quilting the fast, fabulous and continuous way. Save loads of time and discover that you won’t need all those special tools to do custom quilting. Valuable information and designs will be provided in a workbook for each student to keep notes; follow along with Pam as she draws continuous designs from block to block using the sashing and borders to make the least amount of stops; then using the longarm machine, stitch these designs onto the fabric sample for you to take home. 1004 – Beginning Background Fillers & Simple Sashings $110

If you have ever been stuck for sashing ideas or background fillers then this is the class for you. This BEGINNER class is designed for the new longarmer, to teach you free motion techniques that can be used for all your clients’ quilts for sashing, borders and background fillers. We will discuss even quilting, to stitch in the ditch or not, corner stones, thread and batting choices, and how to charge your clients for a job well done. So put away your marking tools and turn off that laser light and come learn the quick and easy art of dozens of free motion quilting designs. 1005 – Beginning Free-Hand Longarm Quilting $110

In this class you will work on a petite heirloom sampler with a variety of meandering and stippling techniques. Linda shows you how to fill up the sashing with easy basic designs and gives you a good basic understanding of how to do a feathered medallion. Perfect for beginners! 1006 – Sampler Supreme $130

Your customer has brought you yet another Block of the Month Sampler and you seem to always be at a loss as to how to quilt them when they do not want an all-over pattern. In this hands-on class you will learn many ways to handle the different blocks, sashing and borders. A three-block sampler is to be made by the student in preparation for this class. Class list with sampler instructions will be available at time of registering. You will load the quilt top in class and quilt it. The sampler can be bound and used as a sample in your studio. 1007 – Beginning Free-Motion Quilting for Longarm $100

Skill Level: Beginner
Fearful of working on the free-motion side of your machine? Wondering where to start with these designs? In this class we will draw and stitch some very simple but effective free-motion designs. You will draw the designs first and then stitch them out. Each student will be able to take their class piece with them for use as a guideline for practice and to start your collection of designs to show customers examples of your work. Cameras welcome. 1008 – Easy Elegant Borders $100

Skill Level: Confidant Beginner - Advanced
Borders, Borders, and more Borders along with More Designs with Lines will be the topic of discussion in this workshop.
Learn three borders techniques that will change the way you approach your next quilt. Several samples and techniques will be covered in class along with a workbook to keep notes. Using your workbook follow along with Pam as she draws these borders using an overhead and learn how to design these effortless borders.
Working with corners and sashing/lattice is the goal using several straight line stencils as references points to develop outstanding designs to help speed up your marking and quilting time. Discover how to deal with problem borders or lattice and which design works best in these areas. You will be amazed how simple borders really can be. This class is packed full of new and unique designs for all size sashings, corner stones, and borders. This class will explore the balance between design and texture. Students will build confidence in their free motion skills while learning new designs created to maximize the art of texture to enhance any quilt that comes your way. These are not your average traditional designs, but rather new and innovative designs to help you achieve that cutting edge in your show quilts and full custom client quilts. We will explore the age-old question when to stitch in the ditch and when to ditch the stitch, and change the way you view sashings forever. If you’re tired of the same old loops, hearts and flowers then come experience a new age in quilting designs that are sure to WOW everyone from your clients to the show judges. 1011– Longarm Feathers for Beginners $110

Each student in this exciting class will learn how to quilt several different types of freehand feathers. The project is a small “dream-catcher” wall hanging consisting of unique fancy feathers and ferns. Feathers are fundamental to the longarm quilter.
