This beginners’ class is for those of you who are either frustrated with your own photography efforts to capture the beauty and color of your quilts/textiles or for those who are thinking about starting to photograph your work. While it will be helpful to have some knowledge of your own Point & Shoot and/or SLR camera, we will cover camera basics (exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO settings, etc.). We will cover photographing your quilt and textiles both inside and outside using natural light and “studio” lights as well as how to process your raw, Tiff and JPEG files for print and web. This class is designed to help the beginner photographer create more consistent and efficient results in their photography efforts.

This class focuses on different foundation blocks that are not covered in the Perfect Points and Curves Beginning Pieced Appliqué™ class. Students are welcome to take both – and will learn totally different techniques in each class. Penny Haren’s More Pieced Appliqué features 25 additional 6” blocks that combine piecing with layered appliqués to create even more intricate blocks than the first book – with minimal effort. Learn quick piecing techniques that make it possible to piece perfect nine-patches; pinwheels; kaleidoscopes; and quarter-square triangles. Then learn how to add pieced appliqué to these foundations to create blocks that you have always avoided in the past. Inset points, odd angles, and “Y” seams are no longer a problem. You won’t believe how easy it is. We will make four different 6” blocks – Spools; Purple Cross; Clay’s Choice; and Cornerstone - to learn four different techniques.
