3401 – If I Were a Carpenter - but I’m a Quilter $155

Skill Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Students will learn how to place architecture into pictorial quilts. You may desire do to a rendering of your own home, a city landmark, or a world-renowned structure. Topics will cover how to go about designing a pattern (as simple or complex as you like), fabric suggestions, and deciding whether to construct the quilt in piecework or appliqué.

3402 – Painting Landscape Fabrics $155

This class is a great introduction in the use of non-toxic transparent permanent textile paints on cotton fabric suitable for quilts. Students will spend the first day becoming familiar with the various effects that the watercolor paints produce when diluted and applied with brushes, sponges and bottles. The second day gives the opportunity to develop more sophisticated color combinations, as well as creating individual painted landscapes and other landscape techniques for interesting results. Students generally complete about 3-6 yds. of fabric pieces if weather permitting. The designs produced are a combination of planning and serendipity, and give students a hands-on basis for future exploration in hand-coloring fabric.

3403 – Fiber Art Embellishing $155

Skill Level: Confident Beginner/ Intermediate
Come and explore some of the wonderful products that can be used to embellish the surface of your quilts, dolls and fiber arts. You will make a small wall quilt as you learn to use fabric paints and rubber stamps, Angelina, Crystalina and Textiva, fabric foils and glitters, miniature glass bead and sequins and hot fix metals.

This class is for anyone who wants to pump up the volume of their artwork!

3404 – Lighting Up Your Quilts $155

You will be surprised at how easy it is to light up your quilts with seemingly magical color effects. In class you will be presented with the most important color basics, so that the world of color is in your hands. Then you will learn how to create the wonderful illusions of depth, luminosity, and luster. Later, as time permits, you will explore the illusions of shadows, highlights, and transparency. You should leave class with a wide array of beautiful lighting ideas to use in your future quilts.
