Description:
Now, more than ever, we are connected to our favorite forms of media. We identify with our favorite television shows, books, movies, and music and we want our interests to be reflected in the things we make and own. However, many of us struggle with fitting our (or our kid's) favorite things into traditional sewing patterns and techniques. In this lecture, we will explore ways to marry traditional quilting and sewing techniques with a modern aesthetic. We will talk through topics like utilizing pop culture themed fabrics, using traditional quilting blocks in a new way, incorporating pop culture into other sewing projects beyond quilts, and what to do when you can't find the right novelty fabric.
