LE01 – Mountain Mist: More Than Batting $10
Deb Roberts - Road Faculty
Thursday, Jan. 15 – 6:00 PM
Mountain Mist - more than batting, more than just a name. During the late 1920’s, as a marketing tactic for their batting, Mountain Mist offered a free quilt pattern to anyone who made a batting purchase. With this incentive, women across America began buying and using Mountain Mist batting as well as making quilts from the patterns that came on the wrapper. This lecture will provide insight into the history of this exceptional collection of quilts that spans 150 years of American Quilting History. A tour of the quilts on exhibit will conclude the lecture.

LE04 – Patchwork Pavements $10
Christine Porter - Road Faculty
Friday, Jan. 16 - 5:00 PM
On every visit to Italy, I am inspired by the geometric patterns of the floor tiles in almost every church and grand building. These patterns are pure patchwork! Similar designs also appear in buildings all over the world and we can also see them as traditional designs in quilts. I know I am not alone in enjoying these designs, and over the years I have recorded my favorites either by taking photographs or by sketching in a small book of graph paper that I always carry with me. My quilts are inspired by these amazing patterns.
