Thoughts From Our 2013 Best of Quilt Winners\" href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/so-you-want-to-make-a-winning-quilt-thoughts-from-our-2013-best-of-quilt-winners\/\">Best of Show<\/a>, <\/i><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\">$3,000 for <\/span><i style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\"><a title=\"So You Want To Make A Winning Quilt? Thoughts From Our 2013 Masterpiece Winner\" href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/so-you-want-to-make-a-winning-quilt-thoughts-from-our-2013-masterpiece-winner\/\">Masterpiece<\/a>, <\/i><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\">and $1,500 for the <\/span><a title=\"So You Want To Make A Winning Quilt? Thoughts From Our 2013 Director\u2019s Award Winner\" href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/so-you-want-to-make-a-winning-quilt-thoughts-from-our-2013-directors-award-winner\/\"><i style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">Director\u2019s Award <\/i><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\">prizes.<\/span>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Not long after the show, we received a charming thank you note from another winner, Rachel Wetzler, who won two of the other prizes that were offered this year. Rachel received $250 for first place in the <i>Traditional Wall Applique <\/i>category.<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/a-winner-with-a-big-heart\/attachment\/10976\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1021\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1021\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/10976-1017x1024.jpg\" alt=\"10976\" width=\"610\" height=\"614\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">She also received \u00a0$50 for her third place finish in the <i>Innovative Wall Mixed <\/i>category.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/a-winner-with-a-big-heart\/attachment\/10943\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1022\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1022\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/10943-1024x941.jpg\" alt=\"10943\" width=\"614\" height=\"565\" \/><\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Wrote Rachel, \u201cI am so pleased these quilts received awards. They were both fun and challenging to make!\u201d<\/span>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Rachel went on to say that she likes to designate a charity to give her prize money to. She reported that she passed on her $300 winnings to the organization, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joniandfriends.org\/wheels-for-the-world\"><i>Wheels for the World. <\/i><\/a>This wheelchair recycling program collects, restores, and distributes wheelchairs to disabled people in developing countries. Her contribution will provide two needy people with the gift of mobility&#8211; something they would not be able to otherwise afford.
