Today, with over 120 members, the guild meets monthly, sponsoring \u00a0guest speakers on both<strong> traditional and modern quilting<\/strong>. Every other year, the guild holds a quilt show at the La Habra Community Center. Their next show is scheduled for March, 2018.\n[caption id=\"attachment_4294\" align=\"aligncenter\" width=\"625\"]<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/quilt-guilds\/meet-the-friendship-square-quilt-guild-2\/attachment\/141\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4294\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4294\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/141-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"At Road 2016 showing off their Opportunity Quilt\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><\/a> At Road 2016 showing off their Opportunity Quilt[\/caption]\nThe friendship activities that the guild is most proud \u00a0of is their community and philanthropic outreach. One of their longstanding projects is with <em>Quilts for Wounded Veterans<\/em>. Members work together on\u00a0red, white and blue themed quilts quilts that is part of a nationwide effort to thank wounded veterans for their service. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guidestar.org\/profile\/90-1720080\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Marine Corps Family Foundation <\/a>distributes the quilts to the Veterans Hospital at Camp Pendleton.<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/quilt-guilds\/meet-the-friendship-square-quilt-guild-2\/attachment\/118-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4295\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4295\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/118-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"118\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><\/a>\nAnother adopted organization is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frommaddiscloset.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">From Maddi&#8217;s Closet<\/a> which is dedicated to the memory of little Madison Holmes, whose brief life touched so many\u00a0and continues to inspire others to reach out to children and families who still struggle in search of a cure for pediatric cancer. Guild members make\u00a0pillowcases and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frommaddiscloset.org\/about\/beads-courage-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Beads of Courage Bags<\/em><\/a> for children undergoing treatment for cancer. \u00a0The <em>Beads of Courage Bags<\/em> are used to store the beads they receive for their courage in undergoing treatment. <a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/quilt-guilds\/meet-the-friendship-square-quilt-guild-2\/attachment\/pillow-cases\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4293\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4293\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pillow-cases.jpg\" alt=\"Pillow cases\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a>Each December at the guild&#8217;s holiday meeting, local non-profit agencies are honored and receive a donation from the guild along with quilts to be used in their programs. Agencies honored last December included \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wccshope.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Women&#8217;s and Children&#8217;s Crisis Center<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stmatthiaswhittier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Matthaias Episcopal Church<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.interfaithfoodcenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Interfaith Food Center<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salvationarmyusa.org\/usn\/housing-and-homeless-services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Salvation Army Transitional Living Center<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosiesgarage.org\/about-us.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rosie&#8217;s Garage<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frommaddiscloset.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">From Maddi&#8217;s Closet<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/quilt-guilds\/meet-the-friendship-square-quilt-guild-2\/attachment\/453\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4296\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4296\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/453-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"453\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><\/a>\nFriendship Square Quilt Guild is so much more than a love of quilting.
