{"id":5500,"date":"2018-01-26T10:32:51","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T17:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.road2cablog.com\/?p=5500"},"modified":"2018-01-26T10:32:51","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T17:32:51","slug":"road-2018-special-exhibit-red-white-quilting-an-iconic-tradition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/26\/road-2018-special-exhibit-red-white-quilting-an-iconic-tradition\/","title":{"rendered":"Road 2018 Special Exhibit: Red &amp; White Quilting, An Iconic Tradition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[The ballroom of the Ontario Convention Center was the location for viewing the Special Exhibit, <em>Red &amp; White Quilting, An Iconic Tradition<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/special-quilt-exhibits\/road-2018-special-exhibit-red-white-quilting-an-iconic-tradition\/attachment\/344a0536\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5506\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5506\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344A0536-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"937\" \/><\/a>\nRed &amp; White Quilts have been popular for over three centuries of quilt making and have been a staple since the mid nineteenth-century.\u00a0 Red &amp; White quilts are bold, graphic and eye-catching and are the most iconic color combination in quilting. The exhibit highlighted this tradition celebrated in<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/meet-linda-pumphrey-author-quilt-designer-international-quilting-association-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Linda Pumphrey\u2019s <\/a>newest book, <em>Red and White Quilting an Iconic Tradition in 40 Blocks<\/em>. The book features instructions for 40 blocks and 14 projects.\u00a0 Each project has three variations shown so readers can decide which version they want to make.<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/special-quilt-exhibits\/road-2018-special-exhibit-red-white-quilting-an-iconic-tradition\/attachment\/front-cover\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5507\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5507\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Front-Cover-800x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>\nA total of fourteen quilts hung in the exhibit, highlighting the versatility of a two-color quilt.
