Some are out in the open; some are hidden away. Some cause frustration; some are presumed to never again see the light of day. No matter the reason, a quilt UFO is a nagging reminder that a job wasn\u2019t finished and that someone might be missing out on a really nice, homemade gift.\nTo help solve this dilemma with our guests, Road to California 2018 instituted its first class dedicated to <strong>finishing those pesky quilt UFO\u2019s<\/strong>. Titled, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/a-new-class-to-help-you-with-your-new-years-resolution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Goodbye UFO\u2019s-Hello New Projects<\/a>, <\/em>it was led by acclaimed Road teachers, <a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/road-2014-vendor-spotlight-meet-pat-yamin-of-come-quilt-with-me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pat Yamin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/road-to-california\/roads-baltic-sea-cruise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stevii Graves<\/a>. Of the class, Pat remarked, \u201cWe wanted to bring back <strong>community sharing<\/strong> in this class; sharing what each other was working on and sharing everyone\u2019s different levels of experience and use of techniques to get the projects done.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/say-good-bye-to-your-quilt-ufos\/attachment\/img_6046\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5842\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5842 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6046-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"finish your quilt UFO's\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><\/a>\nStudents were encouraged to bring work they started from home or what they began in classes taught during Road. <strong>Sewing machines were provided<\/strong> so that there would be one less excuse for quilters not to finish their project.<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/say-good-bye-to-your-quilt-ufos\/attachment\/344a0063-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5845\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5845\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344A0063-1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"finish your quilt UFO's\" width=\"411\" height=\"616\" \/><\/a>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">What else did the class offer to encourage quilt UFO success?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A <strong>quiet, dedicated time to work<\/strong>.<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/say-good-bye-to-your-quilt-ufos\/attachment\/344a0124\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5846\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5846\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344A0124-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"finish your quilt UFO's\" width=\"522\" height=\"348\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A <strong>cell phone free zone<\/strong> to avoid distraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Rewards <\/strong>for <em>showing up<\/em> (everyone got goodie bags filled with sewing gear from Primm USA) and for <em>hanging in there<\/em> (throughout the evening, students won door prize giveaways donated by Pat and Stevii).<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/say-good-bye-to-your-quilt-ufos\/attachment\/344a0145\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5844\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5844 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344A0145-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"finish your quilt UFO's\" width=\"625\" height=\"417\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\nOne of the door prize winners was Gwendolyn Humphries from Victorville, California. She has been quilting for 3 years when she found more free time after retiring from a career as a Speech Therapist for the San Bernardino County Schools. Gwendolyn signed up for this class because \u201cI have a lot of stuff to finish. I knew Pat could help me if I got stuck.\u201d Gwendolyn has been to Road to California the past 3 years and \u201cloves it.\u201d She said she loves trying new things, especially new machines, when she takes classes. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/say-good-bye-to-your-quilt-ufos\/attachment\/img_6044\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5841\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5841\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6044-e1527717731847-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"finish your quilt UFO's\" width=\"438\" height=\"584\" \/><\/a>\nFontana, California resident, Angelica Reyes, took <a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/meet-road-2018-teacher-lee-chappell-monroe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lee Chappell Monroe\u2019s <\/a><em>Blooming Dresden <\/em>class and was looking forward to having quilting experts Stevii and Pat share their knowledge in helping her finish up the class project.\nDo you have any quilt UFO\u2019s waiting to be finished?
