She only started quilting because a friend (who had been quilting for 30 years) encouraged Wendy to try it. Once Wendy experienced the thrill of incorporating multiple fabrics in a quilt, quilting just drew her in.\u00a0 Wendy remembers, \u201cAs they say, the rest [is] history after my first quilt.\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/classes\/get-to-know-road-2019-teacher-wendy-sheppard\/attachment\/wendy-sheppard-headshot\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6061\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6061\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wendy-Sheppard-Headshot.jpg\" alt=\"Wendy Sheppard Domestic Machine Quilting\" width=\"1000\" height=\"780\" \/><\/a>\nToday, she enjoys all aspects of the quilting process. Her quilting space is a main-level office in her home located in northern Virginia, about 45 minutes from Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington. Maybe that\u2019s why if Wendy Sheppard isn\u2019t quilting, she is pursuing her interest in Early American History.\nWhat quilter has had an impact on Wendy and her quilting journey? \u201cI always admire <a href=\"http:\/\/dianegaudynski.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Diane Gaudynski.\u00a0<\/a> She is my hero!\u00a0 She inspires me to strive for more than adequate, but rather strive to be excellent in constructing and quilting my quilts.\u201d\nWendy Sheppard has been teaching quilting classes on and off for about 9 years. She first taught at a local sewing center.\u00a0 She stopped when her daughter was really young.\u00a0 During those years, Wendy filmed online\/video classes for Annie&#8217;s on domestic machine quilting.\nWhat does Wendy like most about teaching quilt classes? \u201c\u2026The smiles on the faces when my students realize they CAN accomplish certain skill sets taught in class.\u201d She hopes her students at Road \u201cwill gain confidence in the techniques I will be teaching in my classes.\u00a0 I also hope that my students will make friends with the fellow attendees while we are working on projects in class.\u201d\n<strong>Sewing machines will be provided for all of Wendy\u2019s classes.<\/strong> Husqvarna-Viking machines will be available for students in her Monday\/Tuesday class. The rest of Wendy\u2019s classes will feature half <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernina.com\/en-US\/Products-US\/BERNINA-products\/Longarm-Quilting\/BERNINA-Q-20-Sit-Down-Model\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>BERNINA Q20 sit down longarm machines<\/strong> <\/a>and half <strong>BERNINA domestic machines<\/strong>.
