Roadie<\/a><\/em>s<\/a> Give Back<\/a><\/em> <\/a>is Road to California\u2019s official philanthropy project. Held Saturday night of the show, quilters give back by joining together to make comfort quilts from quilt squares that were made and received before the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This volunteer-led\nevent, gives Road attendees a chance to meet other conference goers<\/strong>, participate\nin a worthwhile activity<\/strong>, and fill up an otherwise empty Saturday\nnight<\/strong>. Everything that is needed for the quilters to work on the quilts \u2013 sewing\nmachines, thread, batting, irons, and backing \u2013 are all donated for the\nactivity by some of Road\u2019s vendors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Quilters<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Jeanne and Bruce are from Burbank, California. They\u2019ve been married 25 years and are actively involved in volunteering for charitable causes like the Los Angeles Zoo and Blanketeers. Their giving spirit is what drew them in to Roadies Give Back. While Jeanne has been quilting for 20 years, Bruce does not quilt but he did enroll in a Handi Quilter<\/a> class during the show. Jeanne has attended Road to California for 18 years and Bruce has accompanied her 10 of those years. Bruce said it \u201cfeels good to give back\u201d with Roadies Give Back<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Quilters<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Anne and Justine have been neighbors for over 40 years. Anne has been quilting for 25 years and Justine for 40 years. They quilt together at home \u201cevery couple of days.\u201d Anne\u2019s garage has turned in to a quilting \u201cstudiage.\u201d They love going on \u201cquilting adventures together.\u201d  Road 2019 was their second time at the show. They saw finished Roadies Give Back<\/em> quilts in the South Information Booth and decided they wanted to see what the quilters give back activity was all about and be a part of it.  Justine commented, \u201cTonight is fun!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another\nBurbank resident, Ailette, also does a lot of charity work. She was attracted\nto Roadies Give Back<\/em> because she has lost friends and relatives to\ncancer. She and her friends made 35 quilt squares for the event. Ailette thinks\nRoad to California is \u201cwonderful. It is a great time to collaborate with others\nand see fun ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Illinois\nresident, Caroline, has been to Road to California 18 times. She has been\nquilting for 19 years. Caroline felt Roadie Give Back<\/em> was a \u201cgood thing\nto do\u201d while she was at the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
