Roadies Give Back<\/a><\/em> <\/a>is Road to California\u2019s official philanthropy project. Held Saturday night of the show, quilters are given the opportunity to give back to Road\u2019s local community by joining together to make charity quilts for cancer patients at the Robert and Beverly Lewis Cancer Care Center at Pomona Valley Hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 2020, Road\u2019s\n25th<\/sup> Anniversary Show, Roadies Give Back, will be happening\nSaturday, January 25th<\/sup> from 6:00 \u2013 9:00 PM.   <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This volunteer-led event, gives Road attendees a chance to meet other conference goers, participate in a worthwhile activity, and fill up an otherwise empty Saturday night. Everything that is needed for the quilters to work on the quilts \u2013 sewing machines, thread, batting, irons, and backing are all donated for the activity by some of Road\u2019s vendors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert and\nBeverly Lewis Cancer Care Center<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Why did Road\nchoose cancer patients at the Robert and Beverly Lewis Cancer Center for their official\nphilanthropy? Because we have found that many quilters have been touched by\ncancer- either themselves or a loved one- including many of our Road to\nCalifornia workers. In addition, Road has a connection to the Center. Road\u2019s\nowner, Matt Reese\u2019s mother, Shellee, is the Administrative Director of the\nCancer Program. She has been able to arrange for the finished charity quilts\nfrom Roadies Give Back to be delivered personally to cancer patients.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How You Can\nBe Involved <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Road to\nCalifornia 2020-25th<\/sup> Anniversary Show will be the third time<\/strong> Roadies\nGive Back<\/em> has been offered.  To date,\nalmost 200 charity quilts have been donated to the Robert and Beverly Lewis\nCancer Care Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are\nmany ways you can be involved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the Show<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make Blocks<\/strong>.  Make as many blocks as you can and bring them to the show. Each block takes 4 Charm Squares to make. Please use a black background. We are also accepting finished quilt tops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you can\u2019t attend Road to California 2020, you can also mail in your blocks to our office: 1160 N. Dewey Way \u2013 Suite A, Upland, CA 91786<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Roadies<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Register to Volunteer at Roadies Give Back #9600C<\/a><\/strong>.<\/a> Two rooms will be dedicated to this charity quilt activity. Sewing machines for the event are being donated by one of Road\u2019s Sponsors, Moore\u2019s Sewing<\/a>. Volunteers will be needed to arrange quilt squares, sew squares into rows and make quilt tops. Once quilt tops are completed, quilt sandwiches need to be put together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Show<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turn in Finished Blocks<\/strong> and Quilt Tops<\/strong>. They will be collected at South Information Desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join in\nthe Fun!!<\/strong> Volunteer\nto be one of the sorters, planners, or sewers. Many helping hands are required\nfor Roadies Give Back!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enjoy\nSome Swag. <\/strong>Our Road\nVolunteers are putting together awesome swag bags for participants as well as\nhosting giveaways throughout the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet New\nCharity Quilt Minded Friends. <\/strong>What better way to spend a Saturday night than with other\nquilters who share your passion of giving back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of all the\nspecial events planned for our 25th<\/sup> Anniversary Show, Road feels Roadies\nGive Back<\/em> is the most important. Says Karen, one of our past volunteer\ncoordinators, \u201cIt lets people with cancer know that a lot of people care about\nthem, are rooting for them, are praying for them and are hoping that they get\nbetter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
