What a history Road to California has!! We\u2019ve uncovered more Fun Facts Part II that have made Road to California the premier Quilters Conference and Showcase that it is today\u201425 years after it all began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continue reading about the fascinating history of Road to California. Here is a rundown of the second half of these fun facts:\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact\n#13: In 2004, quilts from local guilds were displayed in the Atrium along\nthe walls<\/strong> of the Ontario Convention Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #14: Eleanor Burns<\/a><\/strong> has been honored twice at Road to California. In 2008 for her 30th Anniversary as a member of the quilting world and in 2018, for her 40th Anniversary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact\n#15: Due to the growth and popularity of Road, the Ontario Convention Center\nadded a tent<\/strong> to the outside of the main hall in 2008 to house vendor\nbooths. It was a challenge to keep the tent up that year due to high winds and\nrain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact\n#16: Longarm machine classes<\/strong> were first introduced in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact\n#17: Quilts were first hung from the ceiling<\/strong> of the Atrium in 2011.\nCarolyn Reese picked a theme, \u201cSo. Cal Ice Storm,\u201d and local guilds were\nencouraged to participate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact\n#18: The following year, local quilt guilds began being invited to provide the\nquilts on the ceiling of the Atrium. The first quilt guild to participate was the\nSouth Bay Quilt Guild<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #19: Road\u2019s first marriage proposal<\/a><\/strong> occurred in 2013 when Carolyn Reese\u2019s grandson, Matt, proposed to Jennifer Bennett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #20: Road teamed with Operation Homefront<\/a> and Island Batik<\/a> to honor Veterans at Road 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #21: A marching band<\/strong> from Ontario\u2019s Colony High School helped Road celebrate its 20th Anniversary<\/a> in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #22: Also, in 2015, the Tentmakers of Cairo<\/a><\/strong> made their first appearance at the Show.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #23: Carolyn Reese retired<\/strong> in 2016 and her grandson, Matt Reese<\/a><\/strong>, took over the role as Road to California\u2019s show owner, maintaining the tradition of a family owned and operated quilt show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #24:\nRoad to California became the leader in utilizing technology<\/strong> for their\nquilt show. In 2018, a new, state-of-art website was introduced along with a\nfully automated registration process \u2013 the first of its kind in the quilting\nworld.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Fact #25:\nToday, Road to California gives away $92,000 in cash prizes<\/strong> for its\nquilt contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
