Most of those garments were made from designs that Krista just made up along the way. Why was she sewing and designing so much? Because she could not read. \u00a0Krista is dyslexic and wasn\u2019t able to read until she was 12 years old. Instead of battling with trying to figure out written patterns, she spent her time thinking about how and why things were done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM.jpg\" alt=\"Krista Moser\" class=\"wp-image-7641\" width=\"331\" height=\"532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM.jpg 398w, https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM-187x300.jpg 187w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 331px) 100vw, 331px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Sewing Prodigy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though Krista finally learned to read, because she had spent so much time doing her \u201cown thing,\u201d she decided to just keep on doing what she knew best: being creative and not worrying about academics. \u201cCreativity was a confidence builder,\u201d Krista remembered. \u201cIt kept me from comparing myself to other kids.\u201d &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When she was 12, a local quilt store asked Krista to teach her method of sewing. Krista worked at that store for 9 years until the store closed. By that time, she had made a name for herself as a longarm quilter, pattern designer and sewing teacher at other stores. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quilting Innovations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Krista Moser is known in the quilting industry for her YouTube videos on <em>Y Seams<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Y Seams, as easy as 1, 2, 3!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RhtQUtdcNkM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She has also designed two rulers for <a href=\"https:\/\/creativegridsusa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Creative Grids<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM7.jpg\" alt=\"Krista Moser\" class=\"wp-image-7642\" width=\"520\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM7.jpg 640w, https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM7-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And her 24 quilt patterns are highly visual, using easy to follow illustrations with only a few key words. She taught classes and was featured in a Special Exhibit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM2.jpg\" alt=\"Krista Moser\" class=\"wp-image-7644\" width=\"442\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM2.jpg 640w, https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM2-300x297.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 442px) 100vw, 442px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSheesh.\u201d said Krista. Being at Road 2020 has been \u201cnon-stop\u201d and \u201cdelightful.\u201d Because Krista is from the Seattle, Washington area, she was particularly grateful for the California sunshine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7645\" width=\"388\" height=\"499\" srcset=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM3.jpg 498w, https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM3-233x300.jpg 233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 388px) 100vw, 388px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sandy, from Whittier and a member of the Long Beach Modern Quilting Guild, took one of Krista\u2019s classes because \u201cKrista is terrific.\u201d \u201cI wanted to learn Krista\u2019s <em>Y Seam<\/em> technique from Krista.\u201d Sandy has been quilting since she was 13 years old. \u201cI had a great Home Ec teacher in Reno, Nevada. She taught me how to \u2018Quilt As You Go\u2019 with a log cabin quilt.\u201d Sandy has been to Road the past 6 years. She likes Road because \u201cit is close to my home and there are vendors from all over; ones I would normally not see.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7646\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM5.jpg 640w, https:\/\/road2ca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KM5-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newlyweds John and Neyha took Krista\u2019s class because John\u2019s mother had signed up she and Neyha to attend but had to drop out at the last minute so John took her place. It was their first ever quilting class. Even though Krista\u2019s class was considered an \u201cintermediate\u201d class, they felt they did OK. \u201cIt was a team project,\u201d said John. Neyha received a Featherweight sewing machine from John\u2019s parents for a birthday gift two years ago to encourage her to sew. \u201cKrista is an awesome teacher,\u201d remarked Neyha. \u201cShe does multiple demos so you don\u2019t feel like you miss out on anything.\u201d Neyha especially liked that Krista was \u201cyoung like me.\u201d John said that while he had grown up around his mom and grandma quilting, \u201cI have never done anything like this before.
