UPLAND, CA June 13, 2013.\u00a0 Road to California, Inc. is proud to announce the creation of a new category in its January Contest.\u00a0 The category focuses on Modern Quilts and calls for entries that encompass the modern aesthetic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Road to California, Inc.\u2019s contest already provides quilters from traditional to abstract a category to enter.\u00a0 The addition of a modern category will allow further diversity into Road to California\u2019s existing contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Quilters\u2019 are eligible to enter their modern quilt into one of two Modern subcategories in the contest.\u00a0 The first Sub-Category is Modern Piecing, which includes quilts that utilize improvisational piecing techniques.\u00a0 The second sub-category is Negative Space, which includes quilts set with large amounts of negative space including quilts with alternative grid work and modern abstract design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Prizes for the new Modern Category include Best Modern Quilt<\/i><\/b> $2,000 sponsored by Modern Quilts Unlimited<\/i><\/a>, Best Modern Piecing<\/i><\/b> <\/i>$1,000 sponsored by Stash Books<\/a> \u00ae and Best Use of Negative Space<\/i><\/b> $1,000 sponsored by Stash Books<\/a> \u00ae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Modern Quilt\u2019s entered into the new categories will also be eligible to win other prizes including Best of Show <\/i>$6,000 <\/i>sponsored by Gammill.\u00a0 Total cash prizes for Road to California\u2019s 2014 contest totals over $50,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Entries must be received by Road to California by October 1, 2013.\u00a0 Road to California Quilters\u2019 Conference & Showcase runs from January 23 through 26, at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario California.<\/p>\n\n]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
