Debbie will be teaching on Thursday, 4032 Boo Banner and on Saturday, 6036 Buttons and BagsDebbie Busby

Personal: With Debbie Busby, it is family first. Born in Albany Oregon, she was raised with three sisters. She and her husband have a son and a daughter and six grandchildren. Three of her grandchildren are her daughter’s four year old triplet girls: Hailey, Emma, and Olivia. Her son has two more granddaughters, Addison and Hazel and her one grandson, Lincoln.  Her family also includes two labs that are sisters. Liberty is a yellow lab, and Lucy is a black lab.Grandkids

How did you get started in quilting? I started hand stitching as a young girl with my grandmother and great aunt. I took home economics in high school. My first project was an apron out of yellow gingham.  My husband bought my first sewing machine for me after we were married and I sewed clothing for years. Eventually I began sewing small projects for craft shows and then started my own business in 2003. Most of my designs use hand dyed wool and hand stitching.

Does anyone else in your family quilt? My mother and my grandmothers sewed and my great aunt hand pieced and hand quilted many quilts. I am hoping to begin teaching my grandchildren to sew soon!!

Where do you find inspiration for your quilting? Inspiration for me comes from my surroundings. There is so much color and texture in nature!!

What is the one quilting tool that you can’t live without? Of course without my needle I would be lost!!! I also love sharp little scissors!!!

What do you like best about teaching? I love to see others discover the joy in working with wool and see the joy in their accomplishment. Boo Banner

What do you want your students to get out of your class? I want my students to make their projects their own……to know that there is no wrong way. I want them to learn confidence in their stitching…..no one stitches the same and that makes us each unique!!!  And of course to HAVE FUN!!!!Buttons and Bags
